CAT is a structured, collaborative and time-limited form of psychotherapy that helps you understand the patterns in your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and relationships, and how those patterns may have developed over time. It draws on both cognitive and psychoanalytic traditions and places particular emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. I am a formally accredited CAT Practitioner.

This varies depending on your individual needs and goals. CAT is typically time-limited, running for 16-24 sessions, though this is always discussed and agreed with you following an initial assessment. You are always in control of how long therapy continues, sessions are reviewed regularly throughout our work together.

Yes. Sessions are available both online via Zoom and in person. The format will be agreed with you at the outset and can be reviewed at any point. For online sessions you will need a camera, microphone and a private, uninterrupted space. Zoom is free to download and use as a client. Sessions are never recorded without your explicit consent.

The first step is a free 15-minute consultation by phone or video. This is a chance for us to talk through what brings you to therapy and whether we might be a good fit to work together. There is no commitment required. Simply fill in the contact form and I will be in touch within two working days to arrange a time.

Yes. Everything you share in therapy is treated as strictly confidential. There are limited exceptions to this, for example, if I have serious concerns about your safety or the safety of someone else. These exceptions are explained in full in the Terms of Service, which I will share with you before we begin working together. As an HCPC-registered professional I am bound by strict professional standards of confidentiality.

LJS Psychology currently offers therapy for adults (18 and over). However, I have specialist expertise in PDA, ADHD and autism across the lifespan and published research in anxiety in young people. If you are seeking support for a young person I am happy to discuss your situation and signpost to appropriate services.

Please give as much notice as possible by phone, text or email. Sessions cancelled with 48 hours or more notice can be rescheduled at no charge. Cancellations between 24 and 48 hours incur a 50% charge, and less than 24 hours notice or non-attendance incurs the full session fee. Full details are in the Terms of Service.

Yes. I am a Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), registration number PYL33921. Practitioner Psychologist is a protected title, which means I must meet strict standards of training, competence and professional conduct. You can verify my registration at hcpc-uk.org.

LJS Psychology offers a private service which means no waiting list, greater flexibility over appointment times and frequency, and more time to work at your pace without service constraints. You will work with the same psychologist throughout rather than being passed between clinicians. All of the same professional standards and HCPC regulation apply as in NHS settings.
